Safe-Lock™ pull out protection for tools

In high performance cutting (HPC), it is possible for the cutting tool to become pulled out from the chuck. The cause of this is a slow microcreeping motion. It happens with cutting at high speed and with high pull out forces. Even chucks with extremely high clamping force cannot prevent micro-creeping. High-quality workpieces become scrap as a result
.

Often, the cutting conditions must be reduced. The maximum performance limits of the machine and tool cannot be taken full advantage of. The cutting is ineffective.

The Safe-Lock™ system offers help. Keys in the chuck grip the grooves in the tool shrank. In addition to the frictional clamping force of the shrink fit chuck, the tool is held using positive locking. As a result, micro-creeping is effectively prevented.

On the safe side with Safe-Lock™:
– For High Power Cutting (HPC)
– Highly accurate clamping due to shrink fit technology
– High torque due to form closed clamping
– No loss of accuracy
– No pull out of the tool
– No spinning of the tool
– No damages on work piece or machine
– Groove on tool shank is directed so that tool will be pulled into the chuck (depending on direction of rotation)
– Patent granted: licensing for cutting tool manufacturers possible

Please see the according data sheets and catalog pages to check for which HAIMER tool holders the Safe-Lock™ protection is possible. In general Safe-LockTM can be added from tool diameter 12 mm.

The following tool manufacturers are licensed by HAIMER officially and offer their shank cutting tools with Safe-Lock™ grooves in the tool shank as a standard.
